The Vallecitos Mountain Ranch is a magical, 135-acre wilderness ranch and retreat center nestled 8,880 feet above sea level in the Tusas Mountains, 50 miles west of Taos, New Mexico.

Travel to Vallecitos:
To reach Vallecitos, you will drive or take the shuttle service. Please note, shuttle service is only available on some retreats! Be sure to confirm that shuttle service is available for your retreat by completely reading your retreat description.
If shuttle service is available, this is the only shuttle to the ranch. There is no regular shuttle schedule. There is no other transportation to the ranch (i.e. bus or taxi).
There may be carpooling opportunities for your retreat. We are happy to help assist you to try to arrange a carpool. Please contact us if you are interested in offering a ride to another participant, or sharing a ride in someone else’s vehicle.
Flying to New Mexico:
New Mexico’s major airport is the Albuquerque Sunport. Santa Fe hosts a smaller airport served by a more limited selection of airlines.
Shuttle Service from the Albuquerque Sunport and Santa Fe:
Shuttle service from the Albuquerque Sunport or the Hotel Santa Fe in downtown Santa Fe is available on many retreats. The shuttle does not pick up or drop off at the Santa Fe airport. The cost of the shuttle is $150 per person, round trip, from both points. Please confirm that shuttle service is available for your retreat. This information can be found in the description of your retreat on our Calendar of Events and Registration page.
Shuttle Schedule and Instructions: The shuttle leaves the Albuquerque airport at 2:00 pm on the day your retreat begins and can pick up at the Hotel Santa Fe between 3:00-3:30 pm on its way to the ranch. The shuttle arrives at the ranch at approximately 5:30- 6:00 PM.
How to Make a Reservation for the Shuttle: If you plan to take the shuttle, you must inform us in advance. To make your reservation for the shuttle, we will need your travel information, including airline, flight numbers, and arrival/departure times. Please also provide a cell phone number that we can give to the shuttle driver in case s/he needs to contact you.
Scheduling Your Flights: If you plan to take the shuttle from the Albuquerque airport, you will need to schedule your arriving flight no later than 1:30 PM. On the day your retreat ends, the return shuttle will bring you back to the Albuquerque airport in time to catch a flight leaving at 2:00 pm or later.
To Meet the Shuttle: The shuttle leaves the airport at 2:00 pm on the day your retreat begins and can pick up at the Hotel Santa Fe between on its way to the ranch. The shuttle arrives at the ranch at approximately 5:30 – 6:00 PM.
The shuttle company we use is American Limousine. At the Albuquerque Sunport, the driver for American Limousine will meet you at the bottom of the escalator going from the terminal down to baggage claim between 1:30-1:45 PM. S/he will be holding a sign that reads “Vallecitos”. Please check in with the driver.
If you have made arrangements to be picked up at the Hotel Santa Fe, please wait in the lobby and keep your eye out for the shuttle. In an emergency, you may contact American Limousine at (505) 877-7576. We will make your reservation. Please contact American Limousine only in the event of an emergency.
Shuttle Cancellations: There are no refunds for shuttle cancellations received 7 business days or less prior to your retreat.
Assistance on the Day of Travel: If your flight is delayed and it is a weekday, please call the office at 505-469-9017. If it is the weekend, please contact us using the emergency contact number you were provided via email one week prior to your retreat start date.

Driving Directions to Vallecitos Mountain Ranch:
Follow these directions exactly and do not attempt to take any “shortcuts”, other routes or rely on Google maps or GPS (both are unreliable and inaccurate in this area). The directions we provide are the safest, most expedient route to the ranch.
You must follow these directions exactly as given or risk getting lost in a remote area where we will not know to look for you. There is no cell phone service in the mountains of this area
FROM SANTA FE: Take Highway 285 north to Espanola, then north to Ojo Caliente and Tres Piedras. Do not take Highway 68 north through Espanola to Taos. Turn left on 285/84 as you enter Espanola. Take Highway 285/84 north of Espanola where they diverge.Turn onto Highway 285 to Ojo Caliente and Tres Piedras. Do NOT continue on Highway 84 north towards Chama. At the blinking light at Tres Piedras (the junction of Highways 285 and 64), turn left onto Highway 64 going west towards Tierra Amarillo. See below for directions continuing from Tres Piedras.
FROM TAOS: Take Hwy 64 west to Tres Piedras.See below for directions continuing from Tres Piedras.
FROM DENVER, COLORADO: Take Route 285 south from Alamosa to Tres Piedras. See below for directions continuing from Tres Piedras.
FROM DURANGO, COLORADO: Take US-160 East approximately 60 miles to Pagosa Springs. From Pagosa Springs turn right on US-84 E (following signs for Chama). When you arrive in Chama, turn right onto US-64/US-84 E towards Tierra Amarilla. After passing through Tierra Amarilla, turn left onto US 64 toward Tres Piedras. If you don’t turn left here you will continue on US-84 toward to Santa Fe. As you continue east on Route 64, you will come to Hopewell Lake. Turn right at Hopewell Lake and follow the Vallecitos directions from here (below).
FROM TRES PIEDRAS: At Tres Piedras go west on Highway 64 and drive approximately 19 miles to Hopewell Lake. Turn LEFT at Hopewell Lake onto Forest Road 91B (dirt road). After leaving pavement, travel 6.7 miles on Forest Road 91 B. At 6.7 miles take a sharp right onto the primitive road to the ranch. Look for our sign at the turn. Do not turn until you see the “Vallecitos Ranch” sign! Follow the primitive road to gate of the ranch. The gate combination will be provided upon registration. PLEASE KEEP GATE LOCKED AT ALL TIMES. After you go through the gate follow the road all the way to the Main Lodge (approximately 1 mile). The road will dead-end at the Lodge. Staff will give instructions to unload your luggage and park your vehicle.

6 hours from Denver, 3 ½ hours from Albuquerque, 3 1/2 hours from Durango, 2 ½ hours from Santa Fe, 1 ½ hours from Taos. Driving times are estimated and include no stops.
You will drive the last seven miles into the ranch on Forest Road 91B. This is an unpaved road. You will be able to drive into the ranch in a 2WD low clearance vehicle unless the weather is very wet. Weather that is wet enough to make the roads very muddy is a rare occurrence: the roads are almost always passable in a normal, 2WD vehicle.
If you have notified us that you plan to drive, and the roads are unusually muddy, we will let you know in advance, and provide instructions accordingly.
The ranch is not open for unscheduled visits.
