Join guiding teacher Erin Treat and board member/poet Michelle Latvala for a live one-hour online community event where they will share Dharma reflections, poetry, and conversation direct from the land on an autumn morning at Vallecitos.
This special event is an opportunity to connect to the magic of the land as the season closes while sharing the merit together from a full season of practice.

Erin Treat
Erin Treat lives in Durango, CO and has been practicing Buddhist meditation for 30 years. In addition to serving as the Guiding Teacher of Vallecitos Mountain Retreat Center since 2013, she teaches regularly at Spirit Rock and the Insight Meditation Society. She served for 20 years in leadership on the Teaching Council of the Durango Dharma Center. Erin teaches the practical and the profound, from a heart grounded in respect for mystery and the many faces of awakening. Her approach to sharing the dharma is influenced by her ongoing experience as a student of the Diamond Approach by A.H. Almaas and by…

Michelle Latvala
Michelle Latvala’s first book of poems, Between Latitudes (Green Writers Press, 2025), received honorable mention for the Eric Hoffer Award and was named a finalist for the First Horizon Award. Michelle served as executive director of Spirit Rock Meditation Center for a decade and now works as faculty for poet David Whyte’s Institute for Conversational Leadership. She migrates between responsibilities in northern California and eastern Alaska, where she built a cabin at the same latitude her Finnish ancestors inhabited for centuries in the shared circumpolar boreal forest.
