With Grove Burnett and Ann Friedman, PhD (Assistant)
October 5 - 8, 2017
How often have you wondered what mindfulness and meditation are all about? How exactly does it work? Does it do any good? Do regular people do it? Isn’t it just running away from reality, escaping the world?
In the last decade mindfulness has exploded onto the American landscape and the science of meditation has skyrocketed. Once regarded as a weird and exotic activity, mindfulness is now practiced by more than 30 million Americans and is central to the lives of people of all ages, backgrounds, and professions. The reason for this rapidly increasing popularity and application is simple: MINDFULNESS WORKS.
Mindfulness instruction is now being offered in a wide array of professional settings, including: physicians and health care professionals, professional athletes and teams, major corporations, lawyers and judges, teachers and educators, and non-profit organizations and even the military
The newest brain research proves that mindfulness reduces stress and prevents burnout, improves cognitive functions, promotes health and a general sense of well-being, improves performance and productivity and actually changes the structure and function of the brain!
This training will provide progressive instruction in the fundamentals of the practice of sitting and walking mediation. In the afternoon we will hike the majestic old growth forests of the magical La Manga wilderness—at the height of fall color– that borders the ranch. You will reconnect with the natural world and experience the high mountains in a way you’ve never done before!
