Description:
We are pleased to offer the fourth annual mindfulness retreat for mental health professionals at Vallecitos.
This retreat is limited to 25 participants.
Many clinicians have studied mindfulness and its clinical applications, but have not had the opportunity to attend a meditation retreat. Others are seasoned practitioners of both meditation and psychotherapy who may be looking to renew themselves and reinspire their clinical work. Still others might wish to connect with colleagues in an intimate setting while integrating mindfulness and compassion into psychotherapy.
During the week we’ll consider wisdom from a Buddhist perspective and explore ways in which wisdom and compassion inform one another. This course offers an opportunity to explore these practices with colleagues more intensively in a stunningly beautiful retreat environment. The teaching will be experience-near, focusing on how mindfulness practice can both deepen our understanding of psychological suffering and enhance our capacity for therapeutic presence and empathy. There will be study modules most afternoons, and regular opportunities for group discussion and individual meetings with teachers. The rest of the time we will observe silence, including during meals, to facilitate a deeper contemplative experience. There will be one completely silent retreat day during the course.
Bill and Susan Morgan will be on hiatus from a three-year meditation retreat in order to teach this program. This is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in unspoiled natural beauty and practice shoulder-to-shoulder with leaders in the burgeoning new field of clinical mindfulness and self-compassion. Every effort will be made by the teachers and staff to give each participant a delightful, educational retreat experience, returning home with renewed enthusiasm for clinical work and for cultivating mindfulness and compassion in daily life.
20 CE credits available to psychologists, social workers and licensed mental health counselors.

Registration & Cost:
The cost of the course is $780. The fee includes meals, accommodation, tuition and CE credits.
The Tradition of Dana: Mindfulness and related teachings have traditionally been sustained by the 2,600 year-old tradition of dana, which literally means “generosity.” We follow this tradition by inviting participants to offer donations to the retreat leaders, who otherwise receive minimal compensation at the end of the course.
Shuttle service is available for this retreat.
Arrival and Schedule: Check-in is between 3:00-4:00 pm on the first day of the retreat. PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE LATER THAN 4:00. ARRIVING LATE DELAYS THE OPENING OF THE RETREAT. Arriving near dark/dusk is also very dangerous due to elk and deer crossing the highway. The retreat will end at 8:30 am on the last day of the retreat.
Cancellations. Late cancellations are costly and mean that others cannot attend the retreat. If you cancel 45 or more days prior to your retreat we charge a $50 administrative fee. If you cancel less than 45 days before the retreat, you will be responsible for half of your retreat fees. All refund requests must be faxed to the Registrar at 575-751-4038. If you withdraw less than 10 business days before the start of your retreat, you will not receive a refund or transfer option.
Transfers. To transfer from one retreat to another, you must notify Vallecitos at least 10 business days before the original retreat. There is a $50 fee per transfer, and no more than two transfers will be accepted. Prior to the start of the retreat, you may designate another person to attend in your place; there is no fee for this.
