Awareness and Wisdom: An Insight Meditation Retreat

THIS RETREAT IS FULL AND REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. To be added to the waiting list, please call 575-751-9613.

With Carol Wilson, Guy Armstrong and Sally Armstrong

June 16-23, 2012

For thousands of years meditators have come to forest settings to rediscover tranquility and an awake sense of presence.  Please join us for a silent insight meditation retreat in this beautiful wilderness with full (meditation) instructions for both insight and loving kindness meditation, meetings with the teachers, and daily talks on the teachings of the Buddha.

Away from busy schedules our minds can settle down and find delight in the awareness of the physical beauty and a profound interior landscape.  As we abide in the present, a growing wisdom shows us the way to true inner peace and happiness.

To support the meditation process, complete silence is maintained throughout the retreat except during meetings with your teachers. Your teachers are committed to being available to you if you need to talk with them outside of the scheduled meetings. We welcome beginners and seasoned practitioners; this retreat is suitable for all levels.

Registration & Cost:

Sliding scale: $875-$630. Please pay at the highest level of the sliding scale that you can afford. This allows others who need to pay less the opportunity to attend. Whatever you pay above the low end of the sliding scale is a tax-deductible donation to Vallecitos Mountain Ranch.

Fees cover meals and lodging.

The Tradition of Dana. The teachings of the Buddha have been sustained by the 2,500-year-old tradition of Dana, a Pali word meaning “generosity”, which allows retreatants to offer donations to the teachers at the retreat’s end. The teacher receives no other financial compensation.

Shuttle service is available for this retreat.

Arrival and Schedule: Check-in is between 3:00-4:00 pm on the first day of the retreat.  PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE LATER THAN 4:30. ARRIVING LATE DELAYS THE OPENING OF THE RETREAT. The retreat will end at 8:30 am on the last day of the retreat.

Cancellations. Late cancellations are costly and mean that others cannot attend the retreat.  If you cancel 45 or more days prior to your retreat we charge a $50 administrative fee.  If you cancel less than 45 days before the retreat, you will be responsible for half of your retreat fees. All refund requests must be faxed to the Registrar at 575-751-4038. If you withdraw less than 10 business days before the start of your retreat, you will not receive a refund or transfer option.

Transfers. To transfer from one retreat to another, you must notify Vallecitos at least 10 business days before the original retreat. There is a $50 fee per transfer, and no more than two transfers will be accepted. Prior to the start of the retreat, you may designate another person to attend in your place; there is no fee for this.
